  • Maintain good oral health
  • Prevent halitosis (bad breath)
  • Retain your teeth
  • Keep a whiter, brighter smile

What does a check up include?

On your first visit, a complete health history will be taken to provide us with a broad understanding of your individual needs.

What else is include?

  • Your dentist may take an x-ray of your teeth
  • Complete a comprehensive examination of your mouth, teeth & gums
  • Examination of the health of the soft tissue in your mouth (cheeks & tongue)
  • Test your gums for any signs of gum disease
  • Remove any plaque or harmful tartar
  • Alongside teeth cleaning and oral health analysis your dentist will offer mouth cancer screening
  • Provide advice and guidance on continued and improved you dental care regime

How often should I have a check up?

Your Tavistock dentist will advise on how often you should have your teeth checked as part of your oral care routine. This will depend on your individual needs. Some people schedule a dental check up once or twice a year, while others, who may require or have undergone treatment, will need to visit more frequently. You and your local Tavistock dentist will discuss the most suitable frequency for general check ups and work out a date and time that suits you.
