Our Frequently asked questions…

Does dental treatment hurt?

Depending on your treatment type, it is normal to feel some level of discomfort whilst undergoing dental treatment, but our team are sensitive and responsive to any discomfort or general anxieties. We have years of experience using tried and tested techniques to ensure you feel comfortable during every stage of your treatment.

How do finance options work?

We do not want your barrier to healthy teeth and gums to be financial, so following your consultation, we will provide a full treatment plan which will explain any treatment options and the relevant fees.

Our finance options help spread the cost of treatment, with a repayment plan which works for you. These options are dependent on the treatment and our team will clearly explain all payment options to help spread the cost of your treatment..

I’ve recently moved to the area; how do I join your practice?

At Abbey Mead Dental & Implant Clinic, we ensure that we always put our patients first. From the moment you enter one of our relaxing waiting rooms, our friendly teams and highly skilled dentists will make sure your needs are put first every step of the way.

If you’ve recently moved a new area and would like to join our practice, you can visit our get in touch page to make an enquiry or call our team on 01822 611 121 to book an appointment with us.

What are we doing differently because of Covid-19?

Our team has made a number of changes to ensure our practice remains as safe as possible for you, our practice colleagues and clinicians. Dental practices have always been extremely clean and safe environments, yet since the pandemic, we have introduced rigorous new protocols for how we see you once you’re in practice and have invested significantly in technology to ensure we have been able to safely remain open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’ve extended our opening hours to allow for extra time needed to clean even more thoroughly than normal between appointments. As well as this, we have completely redesigned how we see you in the safest way possible with our new patient journey.

In addition to this, we have invested in air purification units to all treatment rooms for the highest standards of sanitation.

I’m a nervous patient, what are my options?

It’s very common to be worried about going to the dentist, or even to experience dental phobia. Our team are highly experienced in a number of methods to help alleviate any fears, and make sure you feel calm and in control during every single visit.

We know that your dental health is intrinsically linked to your overall health, and that visiting the dentist as an emergency can be especially nerve-wracking. We recommend regular check-ups to keep your visits stress-free, and to highlight any concerns when we see you.

If you suffer from severe dental phobia, talk to us about how sedation might help. There are a variety of ways to administer sedation to ensure you’re calm and relaxed before treatment even begins.

What are the differences between AGP and non AGP procedures?

Some of our treatments are described as AGP (Aerosol generating procedures), and some are described as non-AGP. Aerosol generating procedures are treatments that involve processes that produce airborne particles (aerosols) that can remain in the air for longer periods of time.

Therefore, when visiting us in practice, you may notice our team wear enhanced PPE in these situations, as well as using air purifiers to ensure our practice is as safe as possible for our patients, clinicians and colleagues.
