Botox® for treating wrinkles
– Things to Note
-
Botox is a very safe and
effective treatment for facial expression lines (wrinkles).
Such lines are caused over time by the repeated action of
muscles which end up wrinkling the overlying skin. Botox acts to
weaken these muscles so that wrinkles soften and disappear.
-
Botox is used mainly for
frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
It is not used for lines on the lower face except in exceptional
circumstances.
-
Botox is given by injection
via a very fine needle, and is virtually painless to inject.
Usually any sign of having had an injection will vanish within a
few hours.
-
Botox injections then take
up to 14 days to have an effect, but will last for several
months. To maintain the improvement, repeated treatments will be
necessary. After Botox injections you must not drink alcohol or
do vigorous exercise for 4 hours.
